Ways to Show Your Significant Other Battling Cancer Love on Valentine’s Day
This Valentine’s Day, if your partner is dealing with the challenges of cancer, there are still plenty of ways to show your loved one how much you care while also considering their cancer diagnosis. Make your significant other feels the love by getting creative. Here are some ways to celebrate love with your partner battling cancer on Valentine’s Day:
Thoughtful breakfast in bed
Breakfast is often considered the most important meal of the day. Serve your loved one breakfast in bed for a romantic start to Valentine’s Day. Consider breakfast recipes that include healthy ingredients. Some of our favorites are oatmeal with fresh fruit, herbed omelets, mashed avocado toast, and sweet potato hash. Smoothies are also great for breakfast; our favorite smoothies with cancer-fighting ingredients include carrot, ginger, turmeric, banana, almond butter, and berry blasts with Greek yogurt.
Romantic home-cooked dinner
Avoid the long lines and crowds at restaurants this Valentine’s, which can be stressful for your significant other battling cancer. If they’re going through therapy, it’s also best for them to avoid exposure to too many people because of their weakened immune system.
However, this doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a romantic meal together. Surprise your partner with a home-cooked meal or take-out. Excite your sweetheart with a recipe you know they love. Think of nostalgic dishes, such as the meal you first shared together or something you ate on your first overseas trip. Try something new; think about recipes that incorporate superfoods that not only help meet the nutritional needs of a person undergoing cancer treatment but also have cancer-fighting properties.
Consider a different setting to make your Valentine’s Day dinner at home more romantic. Instead of eating at the dining table, set up an intimate table for two in your backyard or roof. You may even consider setting up your dinner in the bedroom to create a feeling that you’re in a hotel room and enjoying room service. Create a romantic ambiance with little touches such as tea lights. This would also be the time to use formal plates and wine glasses, even if you don’t intend to drink any alcohol.
Relaxing at-home spa services
Hire a trustworthy team to set up a luxurious spa in your home. Spa treatments can nourish the body, release built-up stress and tension, and leave you feeling relaxed. Cancer treatment can sometimes cause the skin to be very dry and hypersensitive, making skin itchy and uncomfortable. Cancer can also affect a person’s pain tolerance. Some spa services even include oncology esthetics as they recognize the unique needs of people battling cancer. So before booking at-home spa services, ask the service provider how they cater to cancer patients.
