The first thing most patients experience when stepping into one of our five Tampa Bay Radiation Oncology centers, they tell us, is a sense of relief that they’re not at a hospital. They also feel a sense of hope when they meet our nationally renowned doctors with more than 20+ years of experience fighting cancer using our state-of-the-art equipment, which can turn cancer treatments into painless procedures.
More than a thousand cancer patients turn to our team of cancer specialists each year. Feel free to consult with us to get a second opinion so you can experience the difference, like our thriving cancer survivors.
All of our locations are standalone facilities. This means you are not going to hospitals or offices that treat multiple other non-cancerous conditions. TBRO offices minimize patient exposure to other illnesses by the nature of our singular focus—treating and beating your cancer.
Tampa Bay Radiation Oncology is also home to the revolutionary CyberKnife System, which treats cancer with no anesthesia, no incision, no hospitalization, no pain and an immediate return to normal daily activities. This non-invasive alternative is a fit for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors in many places in the body.
Here are some of our satisfied patients’ success stories:
Judith had stage IIIA lung cancer. After her diagnosis, she received 12 rounds of chemotherapy, 23 days of radiation therapy and surgery. Some residual cancer was discovered, leading to eight more rounds of chemotherapy. In 2007, after three years, doctors found a recurrence of her cancer, so her thoracic surgeon recommended CyberKnife radiosurgery.
Judith underwent four outpatient treatments with the CyberKnife. She was very pleasantly surprised by how easy her treatments were, especially after her experiences with surgery and conventional radiation. “When I had the option to do four treatments over two weeks and be done, it was a no-brainer,” says Judith. “With the CyberKnife, there was no downtime, and I didn’t experience any side effects. During the treatments, I just lay comfortably on the treatment table and was able to watch Animal Planet. ”
Immediately after her CyberKnife treatments, Judith was able to return to her daily activities.
Donald was diagnosed with a type of brain tumor known as an acoustic neuroma. In May 1999, Donald was one of the earliest patients to receive the CyberKnife treatment for an acoustic neuroma. “I had three treatments, I didn’t have to take any medications and I didn’t have any side effects from the procedure,” Donald says subsequent tests revealed that the tumor was shrinking in size. By March 2001, it had shrunk by over 50 percent, and the tumor tissue was completely dead.
During a routine physical in November 2003, a biopsy revealed that Donald had prostate cancer. In March 2004, he was one of the first prostate cancer patients to be treated with the CyberKnife. Donald’s treatment lasted for five successive days. He didn’t feel any negative effects, nor did he experience the common lasting side effects of some prostate cancer treatments. Again, the treatment was a success. By November 2006, no traces of cancer were detected!
In December 2004, 55-year-old Danny underwent a routine CT scan. They found a tumor on his left lung the size of a lime. A biopsy showed that the tumor was malignant, a result of skin cancer that he had been diagnosed with almost four years before.
In March 2005, Danny received three treatments with the CyberKnife System, each about 90 minutes. He barely missed a day at the office during the treatment. He was also able to catch up on all his phone calls and emails each day, before and during his treatment sessions. And he was also quickly able to return to his regular tennis matches.
After a month, his tumor had diminished by 90 percent. And, in three months, it was completely gone. More than a thousand men and women diagnosed with cancer each year turn to our trusted team of cancer specialists.
